Lee’s Summit, MO (September 18, 2026) – A Lee’s Summit truck accident left a 22-year-old Independence man injured on September 16.
According to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a Ford Taurus and an International commercial truck collided on northbound Interstate 470 at around 9:40 p.m. Both vehicles were traveling north at the time of the accident. Authorities arrived at the scene and closed down a portion of the roadway near mile marker 12.
Further investigations determined that the 22-year-old man was driving a Ford Taurus and passing the commercial truck in the right lane. A 50-year-old Greenwood man was driving the 2027 International when the truck changed lanes and struck the Ford. The 22-year-old Ford driver suffered injuries and went to Centerpoint for medical care.
The Ford Taurus sustained moderate damage and was towed by Elite Towing. The International sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. The available report did not provide the names of either adult driver.
