Two-Vehicle Crash on US-69 Leaves One Hurt in Crawford Twp., KS

Crawford Twp., KS (March 21, 2026) – A seriously injured woman was transported to the hospital Thursday morning after a Crawford Township truck accident involving a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck at the intersection of US-69 and US-160, at approximately 9:24 a.m.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Heather K. Richardson, 49, of Thayer, Kansas, and a 2002 Freightliner semi-truck driven by Timothy L. Pearson, 30, of Fort Scott, Kansas, collided at the intersection. The Freightliner was hauling a 2016 Timpte trailer at the time of the crash.

Richardson suffered suspected serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Pittsburg. Her next of kin was notified at the scene. Pearson reported no apparent injuries.

The Chevrolet Equinox was removed by Bean’s Towing and taken to a tow lot. The Freightliner was removed by Payne’s Inc. and taken to a tow lot as well. The crash was investigated by unit K388 and was not a hit-and-run or police pursuit incident.

Our thoughts are with Heather Richardson and her family, and we wish her a full and speedy recovery.
