Kansas City, KS (January 2, 2026) – A car accident in Kansas City sent one driver to the hospital on the night of January 1 after a two-vehicle crash unfolded along eastbound Interstate 70.
Just before 10:00 p.m., 20-year-old Kaige Shipman of Kansas City, Kansas, was driving a 2006 Chrysler 300 when his vehicle became involved in a collision with a Railroad Company van driven by 35-year-old Nathan Poling from Creighton, Missouri. Both vehicles were headed east on Interstate 70 near mile marker 421.7 at the time of the accident. The impact caused Shipman’s vehicle to veer off the roadway, strike a barrier wall, and overturn near the 7th Street Trafficway.
Shipman sustained injuries and was transported to KU Medical Center for treatment. His vehicle was significantly damaged and later removed from the scene by Santa Fe Towing. Three individuals in the van, Poling, 53-year-old Jason Snover, and 55-year-old Noel Tyler, all reported no injuries. Each was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
