Brown Co., KS – Teen Injured in Crash on 230th St and Mulberry Rd

Brown Co., KS (August 9, 2025) – A Wednesday afternoon crash in Brown County sent a teenager to the hospital after two vehicles collided at a rural intersection. The accident occurred at approximately 5:02 p.m. on August 6 at the junction of 230th Street and Mulberry Road. According to reports from the Kansas Highway Patrol, the collision involved a 2020 Polaris Ranger and a 1978 Ford pickup.

Troopers say the Polaris was heading north on Mulberry Road while the Ford was traveling east on 230th Street. As the vehicles entered the intersection, they collided. The driver of the Polaris, identified as a 13-year-old male from Hiawatha, suffered injuries and was transported to Amberwell Hiawatha Hospital for treatment. The Ford driver, 25-year-old Luke A. Kessler, also from Hiawatha, was not reported injured.

Emergency crews worked to assist the injured youth and clear the wreckage. The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating the events leading up to the crash.
