Blue Springs, MO (June 29, 2026) – A late-night Blue Springs car accident on June 27 left at least one person injured along Interstate 70, according to reports from authorities. The crash occurred at approximately 10:29 p.m. in Jackson County and involved three vehicles traveling eastbound near mile marker 18.

According to reports, the incident began when a 23-year-old woman from Greenwood, Missouri, driving a 2013 Kia Optima, traveled off the right side of the roadway. She then returned to the highway, where her vehicle partially blocked the shoulder. At some point, she exited her vehicle and was outside near the roadway.

A 64-year-old man from Oak Grove, Missouri, driving a 2022 Ford Mustang, attempted to pass traffic using the shoulder. During this maneuver, his vehicle struck the Kia Optima and the 23-year-old woman who was outside of it. Following the impact, the Mustang entered the center lane and collided with the rear of a 2022 Ford Escape operated by a 22-year-old woman from Grain Valley, Missouri.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene to assist those involved. The 23-year-old driver of the Kia sustained moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to Centerpoint Medical Center for additional treatment. The other individuals involved did not report injuries at the scene.

The Mustang sustained severe damage and required towing from the scene. The Kia Optima also sustained significant damage and was towed, while the Ford Escape, which had minor damage, was able to be driven away.. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is currently investigating the accident.
