Kansas City, MO – Infant Loses Life in Car Crash on I-29 near MM 24.2

Kansas City, MO (October 27, 2024) – A motor vehicle accident reported in the Camden Point area claimed one person’s life. The Missouri State Highway Patrol was called to the scene of the accident on October 24, at around 3:00 p.m.

According to local news sources, a semi-truck tractor-trailer was traveling south on Interstate 29 during the afternoon hours. As the vehicle proceeded through the area near mile marker 24.2, authorities believe that it began to skid. As the vehicle proceeded forward, it collided with a 2002 Toyota Corolla, causing severe damage to the rear end. The impact of the collision sent the Toyota into the back of a second semi before going off the roadway and coming to rest in a tree line.

The semi-truck tractor-trailer continued forward and collided with the second semi before colliding with a Ford F3 50. A child passenger in the Toyota, identified only as an infant, was severely injured in the crash. The victim was transported to Children’s Mercy Hospital, where they died from their injuries. A 78-year-old woman involved in the accident was severely injured and rushed to an area hospital. One additional victim, identified as a 44-year-old woman from the St. Joseph, Missouri, area, was transported to a local hospital for medical care. The incident is currently being investigated.
