Warrensburg, MO (August 1, 2026) – A Warrensburg car accident left five people injured Friday evening along US-50 east of NE 501st Road in Johnson County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. on July 31 on eastbound US-50. Trooper A.K. Booker investigated the crash with assistance from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department and the Warrensburg Police Department.
The patrol’s preliminary investigation indicates that a 2013 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by a 19-year-old man from Holts Summit, was traveling eastbound when traffic ahead slowed. A 2025 Jeep Wrangler, driven by a 49-year-old man from Warrensburg, had reduced speed while preparing to turn. Investigators reported that the 19-year-old driver became distracted, failed to slow, and struck the rear of the Jeep.
The impact caused extensive damage to both vehicles. The Chevrolet Traverse and the Jeep Wrangler were both declared total losses and removed from the scene by towing companies.
Emergency medical personnel treated multiple injured occupants. The 19-year-old Chevrolet driver suffered minor injuries and was transported by Johnson County EMS to Western Missouri Medical Center. A 14-year-old female passenger riding in the Traverse sustained moderate injuries and was also taken by ambulance to the same hospital.
Inside the Jeep Wrangler, a 38-year-old woman and a 65-year-old woman both suffered moderate injuries and were transported by Johnson County EMS to Western Missouri Medical Center. The 49-year-old male driver sustained minor injuries and traveled by private vehicle for medical evaluation.
All occupants involved were reported to have been wearing safety restraints at the time of the collision. Authorities continue to document the circumstances surrounding the crash.
