Wyandotte County, KS (April 24, 2026) – A Bonner Springs car accident resulted in injuries for a passenger on Thursday afternoon after a two-vehicle rear-end collision on U73 Highway.
At approximately 5:09 p.m. on April 23, emergency services were called to the scene located about four miles north of Bonner Springs, just north of Mitchell Ct. The Kansas Highway Patrol arrived to find that two SUVs traveling southbound had collided during a period of slowing traffic.
On April 23, a 2019 Jeep Compass driven by 22-year-old Tyler Phillip Lukens was traveling behind a 2017 Ford Escape operated by 62-year-old Thomas Michael Hebert. According to investigators, the Ford slowed down due to traffic congestion, but the Jeep failed to decrease speed and struck the rear of the Ford.
While both drivers were evaluated and found to have no apparent injuries, 57-year-old Petra Hannelore Hebert, a passenger in the Ford, reported physical pain following the impact. Paramedics provided initial care before transporting her to Providence Medical Center for further evaluation. Both vehicles were insured at the time of the crash, and all occupants were reportedly wearing their safety restraints. The incident remains under official investigation by state troopers.
