Kansas City, KS (April 18, 2026) – At least one person was hurt as a result of a Kansas City car accident on April 17. The police, firefighters, and emergency medical services responded to the scene of a car crash that left at least one person hurt.
According to reports from the Kansas Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 10:35 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 70 at mile marker 413.8. On April 17, authorities were called to the scene where a 2020 Hyundai Elantra and a 2012 Honda Odyssey had collided.
The Honda Odyssey was traveling eastbound in the far right lane when the Hyundai Elantra, driven by 25-year-old Amari Williams of Kansas City, approached from behind at a high rate of speed. The Hyundai struck the rear of the Honda, causing the second driver to lose control and strike a metal signpost.
Amari Williams was transported to KU Med for treatment of his injuries. The driver of the second vehicle, 23-year-old Alyssa Hancock, and her passengers, 26-year-old Byron Hughes II and a juvenile, Jakhyree Hughes, were also taken to KU Med for evaluation. While the juvenile had no apparent injury, both adults in the Honda were treated for suspected minor injuries or pain. The incident remains under investigation by local authorities.
