Topeka, KS (March 10, 2026) – Authorities are investigating a fatal Topeka pedestrian accident that occurred late Monday night at a busy intersection on the city’s west side. The incident happened around 10:08 p.m. on March 9 at the intersection of SW 6th Street and SW Horne Street.
According to the Topeka Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area after reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. When law enforcement arrived, they located an adult victim who had suffered severe injuries after being hit by a passing vehicle. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say the driver involved in the crash left the area before officers arrived. Because the vehicle fled, the case is being treated as a hit-and-run crash. Authorities have not yet released details about the suspect vehicle or the identity of the victim.
