Kansas City, MO (September 27, 2025) – A deadly hit-and-run crash on Wednesday night, September 24, claimed the life of a bicyclist in Kansas City.
The tragedy unfolded around 9:00 p.m. at the intersection of Independence Avenue and Hardesty Avenue. A cyclist riding east on Independence Avenue entered the roadway when a white pickup truck heading west struck him head-on. The violent impact killed the bicyclist at the scene.
Instead of stopping, the pickup driver fled and left the victim to die in the street. Witnesses described the crash as sudden and severe. Debris scattered across the roadway while stunned bystanders watched emergency crews rush to help. Despite their efforts, the victim could not be saved.
Police investigators shut down the area for hours as they collected evidence and searched for clues about the fleeing driver. Detectives continue to pursue leads in hopes of finding the person responsible for this heartbreaking tragedy.
The Kansas City Police Department is leading the investigation and urges anyone with information about the white pickup to come forward.
