Blue Springs, MO – Students and Driver Injured After School Bus Crashes Into Building at Hwy 40 & Hwy 7

Blue Springs, MO (September 26, 2025) – A school bus carrying high school students collided with a vehicle and then crashed into a building on Thursday morning, September 25, leaving several people injured.

The Central Jackson County Fire Protection District reported that the accident occurred around 6:45 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. Highway 40 and Missouri Highway 7.

A Blue Springs South High School bus, carrying between 12 and 15 students, struck the Comfort Dental building after colliding with another vehicle.

Investigators said the bus driver had the right of way and was making a legal turn when another vehicle failed to yield. The impact caused the bus driver to lose control, jump the curb, and crash into the building.

Fire officials stated that three students were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The bus driver also sustained minor injuries and was taken for medical evaluation. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash to determine whether charges will be filed.

We wish the injured students and the driver a full and speedy recovery.

School Bus Accidents in Missouri

School bus accidents, while less common than other types of crashes, are particularly concerning because of the number of passengers involved.

In Missouri, buses transport thousands of students daily, and any collision poses risks for young passengers, drivers, and others on the road.

When accidents happen at busy intersections, the results can be devastating. Even minor injuries may require hospital treatment, time away from school or work, and follow-up care. Parents and families often face not only medical bills but also emotional stress as children recover.

Common injuries in school bus and multi-vehicle accidents include:

  • Head injuries – Concussions or traumatic brain injuries may occur when passengers strike windows, seats, or the bus interior.
  • Back and spine injuries – Sudden impacts can cause herniated discs, spinal trauma, or long-term pain.
  • Broken bones – Arms, legs, or ribs are especially vulnerable during crashes involving large vehicles.
  • Soft tissue injuries – Sprains, bruises, and muscle damage may not appear immediately but can affect mobility and comfort.
  • Emotional trauma – Young passengers often experience anxiety or fear following a bus accident, which may last long after physical recovery.

Victims of school bus accidents may be entitled to compensation for medical costs, lost wages, pain and suffering, and rehabilitation expenses. A personal injury lawyer can help families understand their rights and ensure accountability when negligence contributes to a crash.
