Topeka, KS (June 26, 2025) – A serious two-vehicle crash in Southwest Topeka left one person with life-threatening injuries Monday afternoon. The incident occurred on June 23, just south of the intersection at Southwest 29th Street and Southwest Fairlawn Road, around 3:00 p.m.
According to officers from the Topeka Police Department, emergency responders were dispatched to the scene following reports of a crash involving two vehicles. Upon arrival, first responders found one occupant inside one of the vehicles suffering from serious, life-threatening injuries. Paramedics immediately transported the injured individual to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
The occupants of the second vehicle were not injured in the accident. They were assessed at the scene by members of the Topeka Fire Department and American Medical Response personnel.
The crash prompted authorities to shut down the 2900 block of Southwest Fairlawn Road for an extended period. Officers remained on the scene for several hours while conducting a thorough investigation. Traffic was redirected, and drivers were asked to avoid the area while crews managed debris and gathered information.
Investigators have not yet confirmed what led to the crash. Both vehicles were significantly damaged, and wreckage was visible across multiple lanes. Witnesses who were in the area at the time are encouraged to contact local authorities with any additional information.
Reports from the Kansas Highway Patrol are expected to supplement the ongoing investigation in collaboration with local police.
