Warrensburg, MO – Two-Vehicle Wreck with Injuries on MO-13 Bypass

Warrensburg, MO (February 22, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash occurred on the morning of February 19, leaving one driver injured and requiring both vehicles to be towed from the scene.

According to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident took place at approximately 10:02 a.m. on Missouri 13 Bypass, just north of U.S. Highway 50 in Johnson County. A 41-year-old woman from Warrensburg was driving a 2013 Buick Enclave southbound on the bypass when she lost control of her vehicle. The Buick struck a curb, collided with a 2019 Subaru Ascent traveling westbound through the roundabout, then crossed the roundabout before coming to rest in the center. The impact caused the Subaru, driven by a 74-year-old man from Warrensburg, to slide off the right side of the roadway.

Emergency responders, including the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department and Trooper N.J. Medrano of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, arrived at the scene to assist. The woman suffered minor injuries and was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center by Johnson County Ambulance District (JCAD) for treatment. The male driver was not reported to have sustained injuries. Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were towed by Warrensburg Tow.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash to determine if weather or road conditions contributed to the incident.

We hope the injured victim makes a full and speedy recovery.

Car Accidents in Missouri

Warrensburg, MO – Two-Vehicle Wreck with Injuries on MO-13 BypassCar accidents in Missouri are all too common, with thousands occurring each year across the state. The Missouri Department of Transportation reports that in recent years, an average of more than 150,000 crashes take place annually. Many of these incidents result in injuries, and some lead to fatalities. Factors such as driver error, road conditions, and inclement weather can contribute to collisions on Missouri’s roadways.

Understanding the impact of car accidents goes beyond statistics. Here are some of the most common injuries victims face in crashes:

  • Whiplash and Neck Injuries – The sudden impact of a collision can cause the head to jerk forward and backward, leading to soft tissue injuries in the neck. These injuries may take time to appear and often result in long-term pain.
  • Broken Bones – Fractures are common in car accidents due to the force of impact. Arms, legs, ribs, and collarbones are among the most frequently broken bones in a crash.
  • Head and Brain Injuries – Concussions and traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) can have lasting effects, including memory loss, cognitive impairment, and chronic headaches.
  • Back and Spinal Cord Injuries – The spine is particularly vulnerable in crashes. Herniated discs, spinal fractures, and even paralysis can occur, depending on the severity of the impact.
  • Cuts and Lacerations – Broken glass, metal, and deployed airbags can cause deep cuts and abrasions, sometimes requiring stitches or surgical intervention.

After an accident, it’s important to seek medical attention immediately, even if injuries seem minor at first. Symptoms may develop over time, and early treatment can prevent complications.
