Dallas Co., MO – Three Injured in Motor Vehicle Accident on MO-64

Dallas Co., MO (January 30, 2025) — A two-vehicle collision early Wednesday morning on Missouri Highway 64 left three people injured, including a young child. The crash occurred approximately eight miles east of Louisburg at around 5:14 a.m.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by a 37-year-old man from Urbana, was traveling eastbound when it crossed the center line. The vehicle collided with a westbound 2019 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by a 20-year-old woman from Bolivar. The impact forced the Malibu off the roadway, where it overturned down an embankment.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported the Malibu’s driver, as well as two passengers—a 21-year-old man from Weaubleau and a 2-year-old boy from Bolivar—to Citizens Memorial Hospital. All three sustained minor injuries. The driver of the Equinox was not reported injured. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash.

We hope those injured in this accident recover quickly.

Car Accidents in Missouri

Dallas Co., MO – Three Injured in Motor Vehicle Accident on MO-64Missouri sees thousands of car crashes each year, with a significant number leading to injuries or fatalities. According to data from the Missouri Department of Transportation, over 50,000 people suffer injuries annually in traffic accidents. Many of these incidents are caused by speeding, distracted driving, or driver inattention. Rural roads, like MO-64, often present additional hazards due to limited visibility and high speeds.

Several common factors contribute to crashes on Missouri roadways:

  • Lane Departures: Many severe crashes occur when drivers unintentionally leave their lane, often due to distraction, fatigue, or impairment. These accidents frequently result in head-on or side-impact collisions.
  • Early Morning and Late-Night Driving: Fatigue and reduced visibility can significantly increase the risk of an accident during these hours. Many crashes involving lane crossings happen in the early morning when drivers are less alert.
  • Seat Belt Use: While seat belts greatly reduce injury severity, failing to wear one can lead to much more serious consequences in a crash. Missouri law requires all front-seat passengers to wear seat belts, though compliance varies.
  • Rural Road Conditions: Unlike highways, rural roads often have little to no lighting, narrow shoulders, and sharp curves, making them more dangerous. Losing control on these roads increases the risk of serious injury.
