Wyandotte Co., KS – Three Hurt in Multi-Vehicle Rear-End Crash on I-670

Wyandotte County, KS (September 23, 2025) – Three people suffered injuries in a chain-reaction crash involving four vehicles on Saturday evening, September 20, in Wyandotte County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported the collision occurred at about 5:40 p.m. along eastbound Interstate 670, approximately 500 feet west of Genessee Street.

Investigators said a 2021 Kia K5, a 2007 Toyota 4Runner, and a 2020 Ford Expedition were lined up in the center lane when a 2002 Mercedes-Benz S Class reportedly failed to stop. The Mercedes rear-ended the Kia, forcing it into the Toyota. The Toyota then struck the Ford, completing the chain of impacts.

The 72-year-old man driving the Mercedes-Benz escaped without injuries. His 69-year-old female passenger sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment.

The driver of the Kia, a 38-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries. Her passenger, a 36-year-old woman, also sustained injuries. Emergency crews transported both women to a nearby hospital for care.

No injuries were reported among the Toyota driver and his three passengers, nor the Ford driver and his passenger. Authorities continue to investigate the crash and review the events leading up to the collision.

We extend our thoughts to those injured in this multi-vehicle accident and hope for a full and speedy recovery.

Multi-Vehicle Collisions in Kansas

Multi-vehicle collisions are some of the most common accidents on Kansas highways. These crashes often occur when drivers fail to maintain safe following distances or become distracted. Even at moderate speeds, the force of impact can push vehicles into one another, leading to multi-car pileups like the one seen on Interstate 670.

Victims of these collisions often face long recoveries. Injuries can include whiplash, spinal trauma, broken bones, and concussions. In serious cases, victims may require surgeries, ongoing therapy, and time away from work. Families also experience emotional and financial strain as they support injured loved ones through recovery.

People injured in multi-vehicle crashes may have the right to pursue compensation. Under Kansas personal injury law, victims can seek damages for:

  • Medical expenses, including hospital stays, surgeries, and rehabilitation
  • Lost wages from time missed at work
  • Reduced earning capacity if injuries prevent a return to previous employment
  • Pain and suffering tied to physical injuries and emotional distress
  • Vehicle repair or replacement costs

Filing a claim can be complex, especially when multiple vehicles are involved. Insurance companies often try to minimize payouts or shift blame. Having a skilled car accident attorney ensures that victims have someone protecting their rights and pursuing fair compensation.
