Wichita, KS (July 5, 2025) – A serious accident unfolded on Thursday afternoon, July 3, when a gray car collided with a van carrying multiple children at the intersection of Kansas Highway 42 and Tyler Street. According to reports from the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash happened as the eastbound car reportedly failed to stop for the signal, crashing into a southbound van that had a green light.
The impact caused the van to roll over, resulting in injuries to the occupants. Seven children and three adults inside the van sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene before being taken to area hospitals for additional evaluation. The driver of the gray car was more severely hurt and transported to a local hospital in serious condition for further medical care.
The collision took place on July 4 at around 2:30 p.m., drawing multiple emergency crews to the busy intersection. The sheriff’s office is still investigating the circumstances of the crash, including whether the van was affiliated with a school or summer camp. Traffic in the area was delayed as crews worked to clear the scene and assist those involved.
