Warrensburg, MO – Two-Vehicle Crash on MO-13 Injures Two

Warrensburg, MO (May 1, 2025) – A two-vehicle accident occurred on Missouri Highway 13 just north of Route PP in Johnson County at approximately 5:10 p.m. on April 29, leaving two individuals with injuries. The collision involved a 2016 Ford Focus and a 2012 Dodge 2500 and required emergency response from local law enforcement and medical personnel.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened when a northbound Ford Focus attempted a left-hand turn onto Missouri Highway 13 and failed to yield to a southbound Dodge 2500. The front bumper of the Dodge struck the left rear side of the Ford, sending the Ford off the roadway before it came to a stop in the northbound lane.

The 29-year-old female driver of the Ford Focus and a 1-year-old male passenger, both from Warrensburg, were transported to Western Missouri Medical Center with minor injuries. The driver of the Dodge, a 39-year-old woman from Chilhowee, was reportedly uninjured. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene by Tip Top Tow. Assistance at the crash site was provided by Trooper D.J. Harms and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department. An investigation into the incident remains ongoing.

We hope those injured in this accident recover quickly.

Car Accidents in Missouri

Warrensburg, MO - Two-Vehicle Crash on MO-13 Injures TwoMissouri drivers are involved in thousands of crashes each year. In 2023 alone, the Missouri Department of Transportation recorded over 140,000 motor vehicle crashes across the state. These accidents range from minor fender-benders to serious, injury-causing collisions, especially on rural highways and state routes. Drivers are urged to stay alert, particularly when making turns or merging.

Accidents like this highlight several critical factors every driver should be aware of:

  • Left-Turn Accidents: These are some of the most common types of crashes. Drivers often misjudge the speed or distance of oncoming traffic. When a vehicle turns left and fails to yield, even a small miscalculation can lead to a serious collision. Always double-check both directions before completing a turn.
  • Injuries to Children: Even when properly restrained, young children are especially vulnerable in car accidents. It’s essential to ensure car seats are installed correctly and meet safety standards for the child’s age and size. Prompt medical evaluation is vital, even if injuries appear minor.
  • Right of Way Rules: Misunderstanding or ignoring who has the right of way contributes to many crashes. In Missouri, vehicles making left turns must yield to oncoming traffic unless a signal indicates otherwise. Knowing these rules can prevent many avoidable accidents.
  • Post-Crash Procedures: After any collision, calling law enforcement, documenting the scene, and seeking medical attention should be your first steps. This ensures that injuries are treated quickly and any legal or insurance matters are properly addressed.
