Lenexa, KS (February 20, 2026) – A serious four-vehicle car accident unfolded Wednesday afternoon along westbound Interstate 435 near the exit to Kansas Highway 10 in Johnson County. The Lenexa car accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on February 19, just west of Lackman Road, and left two people with significant injuries.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the collision began when a vehicle traveling westbound in the right lane rear-ended another vehicle. The impact caused the struck vehicle to lose control and spin into the left lane of traffic. As it entered the adjacent lane, the vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by a third vehicle.
Moments later, a fourth vehicle rear-ended the third vehicle, pushing it into the median barrier. The fourth vehicle also collided with the right rear passenger side of the second vehicle, compounding the damage and chaos at the scene.
Troopers reported that two occupants of the second vehicle suffered suspected serious injuries. Both were transported to area hospitals for further medical treatment. The drivers of the other three vehicles were reported to have no apparent injuries. Authorities from the Kansas Highway Patrol responded to the scene and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. At this time, these investigations are ongoing.
