Topeka, KS – Two Women Hospitalized After Vehicle Leaves I-70

Topeka, KS (December 20, 2025) – Two women suffered serious injuries on Friday, December 19, after a violent crash on Interstate 70 in Topeka.

The crash happened around 8:41 a.m. as a 2021 Kia Forte traveled west on I-70. Witnesses said the car suddenly veered off the roadway to the right and climbed a small hill. The driver then overcorrected to the left, causing the vehicle to spin out and come to rest near the shoulder facing southbound.

Emergency crews arrived quickly and found the Kia heavily damaged. The driver, a 38-year-old woman from Osawatomie, and the passenger, a 33-year-old woman from Spring Hill, both sustained serious injuries. Paramedics treated both women at the scene before rushing them to a nearby hospital for additional care.

Investigators spent several hours collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses to determine what caused the crash. The Kansas Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Our thoughts are with both women and their families during this challenging time. We wish them a full and swift recovery.

Car Accidents in Kansas

Two Women Hospitalized After Vehicle Leaves I-70 Car accidents happen every day across Kansas, especially along high-traffic routes like Interstate 70. Shawnee County alone reports hundreds of collisions each year, many involving serious or life-altering injuries. Even careful drivers can face danger when road or weather conditions change suddenly.

Some of the most common causes of car accidents include:

  • Speeding: Driving too fast gives drivers less time to react and increases the force of impact.
  • Overcorrection: Turning the wheel too sharply after drifting off the road can make a car spin or flip.
  • Driver Distraction: A distracted driver can lose control in seconds.
  • Poor Weather: Rain, fog, or ice can make it difficult to maintain traction.
  • Mechanical Failure: A tire blowout or brake issue can quickly lead to disaster.

Serious crashes like this often leave victims with painful injuries such as broken bones, head trauma, or internal damage. Recovery can take months of medical treatment, therapy, and emotional healing. Many victims also struggle with lost income and the stress of rebuilding their lives after such a devastating event.

If you or a loved one was injured in a car accident, you may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering, and future care needs. Insurance companies often pressure victims to accept quick, low settlements that don’t cover the full cost of recovery. Accepting less than you deserve can leave you struggling to pay for ongoing treatment and long-term care.

That’s why it’s so important to speak with a trusted car accident lawyer who can protect your rights and fight for fair compensation. A dedicated attorney can investigate the crash, gather key evidence, and negotiate directly with insurers on your behalf. With strong legal support, you can focus on healing while your legal team works to secure justice and financial stability.
