Topeka, KS (July 18, 2025) – A rear-end crash on United States Highway 75 left one person injured Thursday evening in Shawnee County. The incident happened at around 5:21 p.m. on July 17, just north of Lower Silver Lake Road.
Reports from the Kansas Highway Patrol show that the driver of a southbound vehicle reportedly rear-ended another vehicle. Authorities believe the crash occurred when the driver’s foot slipped off the brake pedal, leading to the impact.
Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, and the driver who struck the vehicle ahead was taken to Stormont Vail Hospital for treatment. The second driver was evaluated at the scene and reported no visible injuries. Both individuals involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts at the time. Traffic in the area slowed while crews worked to assess and clear the vehicles involved. Law enforcement is continuing to review the circumstances of the crash, but no citations have been issued at this time.
