Topeka, KS (February 5, 2026) – A serious Topeka car accident occurred late Tuesday night, February 3, along Interstate 70 westbound at milepost 186.9 in Shawnee County.
Reports from local authorities show that at around 10:45 p.m., a 2013 Lincoln MKS had been stopped in lane 2 after a previous crash. While a pedestrian attempted to push the vehicle out of the roadway, it was rear-ended by a 2014 Ford Focus driven by a 19-year-old woman from Tonganoxie.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and found both vehicles heavily damaged. The pedestrian, identified as a 50-year-old man from Topeka, was injured and transported to Stormont Vail Hospital. The Ford’s driver reported pain and was also evaluated. Both vehicles were removed by local tow companies, allowing traffic to resume.
Initial reports indicate the disabled Lincoln was not functional at the time of the second impact. Weather and visibility conditions may have also played a role in this incident. The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating the events that led up to the crash.
