The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash occurred at about 8:05 a.m. A 2012 Ford F-150 traveled westbound on Highway 36 when it began to slide on ice along the roadway.

According to officials, the pickup spun around while losing traction and completed a 180-degree turn. The truck then traveled off the south side of the highway before entering the median, where it began to overturn.

The vehicle eventually came to rest upright in the median facing eastbound. Emergency crews arrived and checked both occupants for injuries at the scene.

A 25-year-old passenger from Cameron suffered injuries in the crash. Paramedics transported him to Cameron Regional Medical Center for further medical evaluation and treatment.

The driver, a 44-year-old man from Maysville, did not report injuries. Authorities stated that both the driver and passenger were wearing seat belts when the accident occurred.

The Ford F-150 sustained minor damage during the incident. A towing service later removed the pickup from the scene.

Can a Passenger Claim Compensation After a Crash in Missouri?Man Injured in Pickup Truck Crash on Hwy 36 at SW Ogle Rd

Yes, a passenger injured in a crash in Missouri may be able to seek compensation for their injuries. Passengers rarely control how a vehicle operates, so they often have the right to pursue compensation if another driver’s actions contributed to the accident.

Passenger injuries can happen even in single-vehicle accidents. When a vehicle loses control due to road conditions, driver actions, or mechanical issues, occupants may suffer injuries such as neck strain, back pain, or head trauma.

Some people notice soreness, stiffness, or headaches hours after a crash. Medical visits help identify these issues early and provide documentation that may be useful during recovery.

Missouri law allows injured passengers to explore legal options when another party may share responsibility for the collision. In some situations, this may involve the driver of the vehicle they were riding in.

In other cases, another driver, a vehicle manufacturer, or a third party responsible for road maintenance may play a role. A truck accident lawyer can review police reports, medical records, and insurance information to help explain how liability may apply in a specific situation.

Passengers sometimes face medical bills, missed work, and ongoing treatment after a crash. Keeping organized records of doctor visits, prescriptions, therapy sessions, and transportation costs can help show how the accident affected daily life.

Insurance policies may provide coverage for some expenses, but understanding how those policies work can take time and careful review.
