Kansas City, KS (July 3, 2026) – A Kansas City car accident left seven juveniles injured Wednesday afternoon following a crash at the end of a police pursuit near 18th Street and Minnesota Avenue.
According to reports from the Kansas Highway Patrol, the incident occurred just before 4:00 p.m. on July 2 when troopers attempted to stop a 2007 Honda Pilot SUV. Authorities say the driver, a 27-year-old man from Kansas City, Missouri, failed to stop, leading officers on a pursuit through the area.
The pursuit ended when the fleeing Honda Pilot ran a red light at the intersection and collided with another 2007 Honda Pilot. The impact forced the second SUV into a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado.
Five individuals were inside the fleeing vehicle. The 27-year-old driver was not injured. Passengers included a 21-year-old, a 22-year-old, and a 6-month-old infant, all of whom were transported to area hospitals with injuries. Another 22-year-old passenger was not hurt.
Seven occupants were inside the second Honda Pilot. The driver, a 17-year-old male from Kansas City, Kansas, and a 19-year-old female passenger were taken to local hospitals with injuries. Five children, ages 15, 12, 10, 9, and 8, were also transported for treatment following the crash.
The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado, an 18-year-old man, was not injured. Authorities have not yet released additional details regarding the reason for the initial pursuit. The investigation remains ongoing.
