Sedalia, MO – Three-Vehicle Crash on US 50 at State Fair Blvd

Sedalia, MO (June 22, 2025) – On June 20, a serious crash involving three vehicles occurred around 3:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 50 at State Fair Boulevard, leaving one man injured and all vehicles heavily damaged.

On June 17, Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 2014 Ford Escape, driven by a 30-year-old man from Montreal, entered the intersection against a red light. In an attempt to avoid another vehicle, he swerved into the opposing lane and struck two westbound vehicles — a 2012 Chrysler 300 and a 2021 Honda HR-V, both driven by women from Sedalia. The crash totaled all three vehicles. The man was taken to Western Medical by Pettis County EMS with moderate injuries. Authorities from Sedalia Police Department and several Missouri State Troopers assisted at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.

We hope those injured in this accident recover rapidly.

Car Accidents in Missouri

Sedalia, MO – Red Light Violation Leads to Three-Vehicle Crash on State Fair BlvdAccidents at intersections are a major concern across Missouri, especially those involving red light violations. In recent years, Missouri has averaged over 16,000 crashes annually at signal-controlled intersections. Many of these involve drivers who run red lights, leading to high-impact t-bone or head-on collisions that often result in serious injuries. These incidents are especially dangerous when they involve multiple vehicles, as seen in this crash.
Here’s what drivers in Missouri should know about one specific aspect of traffic safety:

  • Red Light Running Risks: Running a red light, whether intentional or accidental, significantly increases the risk of a side impact or head-on crash. Intersections are already complex environments with crossing traffic, pedestrians, and varying light patterns, and entering them on a red puts everyone at risk. These types of crashes tend to occur at higher speeds and are more likely to lead to injuries requiring hospital care.
  • Failure to Yield Confusion: Sometimes, drivers misjudge the timing of lights or fail to yield during turns. This can be just as dangerous, as it places vehicles directly in the path of oncoming traffic.
  • Intersection Awareness: It’s essential to remain alert while approaching any intersection, especially one known for heavy traffic or limited visibility. Slowing down and anticipating other drivers’ mistakes can reduce risk.
  • Delayed Reactions: Even minor distractions, such as adjusting controls or talking with passengers, can delay reaction times. At intersections, those split seconds can mean the difference between a near miss and a collision.

Anyone injured in this crash should consult with a car accident attorney. Quick legal action can make a major difference in preserving evidence, speaking with witnesses, and ensuring the injured receive the support they need.
