Sedalia, MO – Serious Injury in Three-Vehicle Crash on US-50 Near Thompson Blvd

Sedalia, MO (June 15, 2025) – A serious multi-vehicle crash occurred on U.S. Highway 50 just east of Thompson Boulevard at approximately 2:30 a.m. on June 14. One driver suffered significant injuries and was transported to a regional hospital for advanced care.

Reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol indicate that the incident involved a 2012 Ford Fusion, a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado, and a 2021 MAC Truck. The crash began when the Ford Fusion, driven by a 48-year-old man from Marshall, crossed the centerline and collided with the westbound Chevrolet Silverado. The Fusion then continued traveling westbound, striking the MAC truck.

The Ford Fusion sustained total damage and was removed by Don’s Towing. The Chevrolet Silverado and the MAC Truck both sustained minor damage and were driven from the scene. Authorities say the Fusion’s driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He suffered serious injuries and was transported by Pettis County EMS to University Hospital of Columbia. The drivers of the Silverado and the MAC Truck were both using safety devices and were not reported injured. Troopers were assisted by the Pettis County Sheriff’s Department and Sedalia Police Department in investigating the crash. The incident remains under review.

We hope the injured victim recovers fully and swiftly.

Car Accidents in Missouri

Sedalia, MO – Serious Injury in Three-Vehicle Crash on US-50 Near Thompson BlvdAcross Missouri, car accidents can escalate quickly—especially when they occur in the early morning hours. Each year, thousands of collisions are reported on highways and rural routes alike, often resulting in injury or worse. In 2023 alone, more than 870 people lost their lives in Missouri traffic accidents, and over 27,000 suffered injuries.

Understanding what follows a crash like this one helps illustrate its seriousness:

  • Driving without a seat belt: Not using a seat belt increases the likelihood of serious injury or death. Seat belts are proven to cut the risk of fatal injury in half. Unfortunately, many drivers still choose not to buckle up, and the consequences can be life-altering.
  • Early morning driving risks: Fatigue, low visibility, and reduced alertness are common between midnight and sunrise. These factors contribute to a spike in overnight and early morning crashes. Extra caution is critical during these hours.
  • Crossing the centerline: Accidents caused by vehicles crossing into oncoming lanes are often high-impact. These types of crashes typically involve serious or fatal injuries due to the force of head-on or side impacts.
  • Truck involvement in crashes: Collisions involving large trucks add complexity and risk. Due to their size and weight, even minor contact with a truck can cause significant damage to smaller vehicles.

Victims of such crashes often face a long road to recovery. Medical costs, vehicle loss, and time off work can all take a toll—both financially and emotionally.
