Ray, MO (April 27, 2025) – A serious vehicle accident was reported in Ray County on MO 210 just west of Egypt Road at around 5:31 p.m. on April 25. Emergency personnel rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a multi-vehicle collision involving a Chevrolet 1500, a Chevrolet Silverado, and a Volvo.

The incident occurred when a westbound 2002 Chevrolet 1500, driven by a 63-year-old man from Missouri City, crossed the center line and struck the trailer portion of an eastbound 2010 Volvo. A 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, also traveling eastbound, was involved in the crash as well. Due to the collision, the Chevrolet 1500 sustained total damage and had to be towed from the scene by Shoemaker Tow. The other two vehicles suffered minor damage and were able to be driven away.

Gallo Mejia, T.R. Peoples, and C.W. Norris assisted with the investigation at the crash site. Authorities are continuing to review the circumstances that led up to this incident.

We hope the injured driver experiences a swift and full recovery.

Car Accidents in Missouri

Ray, MO - Driver Injured in Crash on MO 210 Near Egypt RdMotor vehicle accidents in Missouri often result in injuries that can alter the course of a person’s life. According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, thousands of serious injury crashes occur each year throughout the state. With Missouri’s network of rural highways and busy city streets, accidents can happen suddenly and lead to extensive recovery periods. Knowing how often these accidents happen helps shed light on the importance of safety and attentive driving throughout Missouri.

Learning more about common factors behind crashes can help prevent them. Here are a few major contributors:

  • Driver Fatigue: Fatigue remains a major cause of serious accidents, especially during late afternoons and early evenings. Drivers who are tired often experience slower reaction times and impaired judgment, increasing the risk of collisions. Regular breaks and adequate sleep before long drives are crucial in avoiding fatigue-related crashes.
  • Distracted Driving: Using a cell phone, eating, or adjusting the radio are all distractions that divert a driver’s attention. Even a few seconds of inattention can result in serious accidents. Staying focused and minimizing distractions inside the vehicle is one of the easiest ways to enhance safety on the road.
  • Speeding: Traveling above the speed limit reduces a driver’s ability to respond to road hazards and extends stopping distances. High-speed crashes often cause more severe injuries. It’s important to always drive at a speed that is appropriate for road and weather conditions, not just the posted limit.
  • Failure to Yield: Crashes often happen when drivers ignore yield signs or fail to properly judge gaps in traffic. This mistake can cause high-impact side collisions. Taking extra time to assess oncoming traffic before merging or crossing an intersection can make a significant difference in safety.
