Overland Park, KS (April 10, 2026) – An Overland Park car accident left one driver injured late Thursday morning along Interstate 35. The crash happened on April 9, 2026, at approximately 10:24 a.m. on southbound I-35 near the 75th Street exit in Johnson County.
According to reports, a 2007 Ford Focus and a 2023 Ram 3500 were both traveling south on I-35 when the incident occurred. Authorities state that the Ford Focus, driven by 21-year-old Vincent L. Lechevin of Olathe, lost control and struck a barrier wall along the highway. Moments later, the Ram 3500, driven by 37-year-old Karl R. Riffle of Grandview, Missouri, was unable to stop in time and collided with the Ford.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, and Vincent L. Lechevin was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Karl R. Riffle was reported to have no apparent injuries following the crash. Both drivers were wearing safety restraints at the time of the collision.
The 2007 Ford Focus sustained damage and was removed from the scene by All City Tow. The 2023 Ram 3500 also sustained damage. Authorities indicated that the crash was investigated by K39. The Overland Park Police Department continues to review the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Traffic in the southbound lanes experienced slowdowns while crews worked to clear the vehicles and assess the scene. Investigators are working to determine what factors may have contributed to the Ford losing control.
