Car Accidents in Missouri

Odessa, MO – Woman Injured in Rear-End Collision on I-70Missouri sees a significant number of vehicle accidents each year. According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, thousands of crashes occur on highways and interstates across the state, with rear-end collisions being among the most frequent types of crashes. Many of these accidents result in injuries ranging from minor to severe, requiring medical attention and legal assistance.

Understanding the risks on Missouri roadways can help drivers remain cautious behind the wheel. Here are some common reasons rear-end collisions occur:

  • Distracted Driving – When drivers take their eyes off the road, even for a few seconds, they increase the risk of rear-ending another vehicle. Texting, eating, or adjusting the radio can divert attention from traffic ahead.
  • Following Too Closely – Tailgating reduces the amount of time a driver has to react if the vehicle in front stops suddenly. Keeping a safe distance can help prevent accidents.
  • Speeding – Traveling at high speeds reduces reaction time and makes it more difficult to stop quickly in traffic. Slowing down can reduce the chances of a crash.
  • Weather Conditions – Rain, snow, or fog can make roads slippery and limit visibility. Drivers should adjust their speed and increase the following distance in adverse conditions.
  • Impaired Driving – Alcohol or drug use slows reaction times and impairs judgment. Driving under the influence significantly increases the risk of a collision.
