Lawrence, KS – 20-Year-Old Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run on E 1500 Rd

Lawrence, KS (November 8, 2025) – A 20-year-old woman from Lawrence lost her life in a hit-and-run crash on Thursday evening, November 6, along East 1500 Road north of Lawrence.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the young woman had been running along East 1500 Road around 6 p.m. when a vehicle struck her and left the scene without stopping. Investigators believe the vehicle involved is a white or light-colored truck.

A passerby found the victim near the road around 3:35 a.m. on Friday and immediately called for help. Deputies arrived within minutes and confirmed that she had died from her injuries. Based on the evidence collected, investigators believe she was hit several hours earlier.

The impact caused fatal injuries. Pedestrians have no protection when hit by a moving vehicle, and the force can cause instant death. The victim likely suffered massive head trauma, internal bleeding, and multiple fractures that made survival impossible without immediate medical attention.

Deputies spent several hours at the scene collecting debris, examining tire tracks, and reviewing security footage from nearby homes to identify the vehicle. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate and urges anyone with information about the driver to come forward.

We extend our deepest condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones during this heartbreaking loss.
