Lathrop, MO – Two-Vehicle Crash With Injuries on Hwy 116 at NE Valann Ln

Lathrop, MO (December 15, 2025) – A Sunday evening, December 14, crash on Highway 116 in Clinton County sent two men to area hospitals, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The collision occurred at approximately 7:49 p.m. near Northeast Valann Lane, about two miles east of Lathrop.

Troopers reported that the crash involved a 2012 Chevrolet Colorado and a 2026 Hyundai Tucson. An 18-year-old man from Lathrop drove the Chevrolet Colorado. The vehicle sat stationary in the westbound lane and faced north following an earlier crash in the area. While the truck remained stopped, a westbound Hyundai Tucson struck the driver’s side of the Chevrolet.

The Hyundai Tucson was driven by a 60-year-old man from Ostrander, Ohio. The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles. After the collision, the Chevrolet Colorado came to rest upright in the roadway, facing south. The Hyundai Tucson also remained upright and stopped facing north in the roadway. Authorities later towed both vehicles from the scene.

Emergency responders arrived quickly to assist the injured drivers. Both men were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, according to officials. Tri-County EMS transported the 18-year-old driver to Liberty Hospital for treatment. The Holt Fire District transported the 60-year-old driver to North Kansas City Hospital.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol led the investigation and received assistance from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office and the Lathrop Police Department. Officials have not released additional information about the extent of the injuries or whether charges may follow.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

We wish both injured drivers a full and swift recovery.

Car Accidents in MissouriTwo-Vehicle Crash With Injuries on Hwy 116 at NE Valann Ln

Car accidents in Missouri often involve serious risks, especially when vehicles stop in active travel lanes. Busy roadways see steady traffic, and unexpected hazards can leave approaching drivers little time to react. Secondary crashes frequently occur after an initial accident, placing drivers and emergency responders in danger.

Two-vehicle collisions can result in a wide range of injuries. Side-impact crashes, like the one reported here, often cause significant trauma because doors and side panels provide less protection than other parts of a vehicle. Even when drivers wear seat belts, injuries can still occur due to the force of impact.

Common injuries in highway crashes may include head trauma, broken bones, chest injuries, neck and back injuries, and internal injuries. Recovery can take weeks or months, depending on the severity. Some individuals may require physical therapy or ongoing medical care before returning to normal activities.

Missouri drivers involved in injury crashes may face unexpected medical bills, time away from work, and stress related to insurance claims. When crashes involve multiple incidents or stopped vehicles, determining responsibility can become complex. Accident reports, witness statements, and roadway conditions often play an important role in these cases.

Seeking legal guidance can help injured drivers understand their rights and options. A car accident lawyer can review the facts of the crash, analyze police findings, and communicate with insurance companies on behalf of the injured party. This support can help ensure that victims receive fair treatment during the claims process.

Injury claims may help address medical expenses, lost income, and the impact injuries have on daily life. Each case depends on specific details, which makes individualized legal advice especially valuable. Acting early can also help preserve evidence and protect important deadlines.
