Kansas City, MO (June 11, 2025) – Authorities in Kansas City responded to a deadly crash early Sunday morning after a woman was struck and killed while walking along the southbound lanes of Interstate 29, just south of NW Barry Road.
The fatal accident occurred shortly before 12:30 a.m. on June 8. According to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a woman walking in the number two lane of I-29 was hit by a southbound SUV. The impact of the collision caused her body to be thrown across multiple lanes of traffic. Tragically, she was then struck by at least two additional vehicles traveling in the number three and four lanes.
None of the involved drivers were injured in the crash, and Kansas City police confirmed that there were no signs of impairment among those operating the vehicles.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and closed portions of the highway to allow investigators to document and clear the scene. The identity of the woman has not yet been released as authorities work to notify next of kin.
