Pedestrian Accidents in MissouriSerious Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash at 75th St & Paseo

Pedestrian accidents in Missouri often occur along busy roads and intersections in Kansas City. These areas see heavy traffic throughout the day and night, which increases the risk for anyone crossing the roadway. Drivers who speed, fail to yield, or lose focus place pedestrians in immediate danger. Hit-and-run crashes in particular create devastating outcomes because injured victims lose valuable moments of medical care.

During night hours, visibility becomes even more limited. Drivers may struggle to see individuals crossing, while pedestrians may misjudge speed or distance. When injuries occur, victims and families face significant emotional and financial burdens. A crash that happens in seconds can lead to a lifetime of recovery.

Victims of pedestrian accidents often require extensive treatment and ongoing support. The financial impact can be overwhelming, especially for those who suffer long-term or catastrophic injuries. Understanding available compensation helps victims protect their rights and regain stability.

People injured in pedestrian crashes may pursue several forms of compensation, including:

  • Medical expenses, covering emergency care, hospital treatment, rehabilitation, surgeries, and follow-up visits.
  • Lost wages for victims unable to work while recovering from their injuries.
  • Loss of future earning capacity, when injuries prevent victims from returning to their previous jobs or working full-time.
  • Pain and suffering, compensating for physical pain, emotional trauma, anxiety, or long-term disability.
  • Long-term care costs, including physical therapy, mobility support, or home modifications.
  • Punitive damages, in cases involving reckless or intentional acts, such as a hit-and-run.

Because hit-and-run accidents involve complex investigations, victims often benefit from speaking with a skilled Missouri personal injury lawyer. An experienced attorney can help gather evidence, communicate with insurance companies, and pursue full compensation on behalf of the injured person.
