Kansas City, MO – Man Killed, Another Hurt After Crash on Rte C Near NE 851st Rd

Kansas City, MO (November 5, 2025) – A tragic crash on Tuesday, November 4, east of Clinton left one man dead and another injured after a vehicle struck a stopped truck along Route C.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred just before 7 p.m. A 50-year-old man from Warrensburg was standing behind his 1984 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck, which was stopped in the eastbound lanes of Route C, just west of NE 851st Road.

As the man stood behind his vehicle, a 20-year-old driving a 2022 Toyota Corolla struck the rear of the Chevrolet. The impact threw the pickup forward, hitting the man who had been standing behind it. Emergency responders arrived quickly but pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota suffered injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Both vehicles sustained significant damage in the collision. Troopers have not released the names of those involved, and the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the man who lost his life in this tragic accident.

Auto Accidents in MissouriMan Killed, Another Injured After Crash on Route C Near NE 851st Rd

Auto accidents like this recent one highlight the dangers of roadside emergencies and the importance of visibility, especially at night. Missouri law enforcement continues to stress the need for drivers to remain cautious when vehicles are stopped on roadways and to use hazard lights whenever possible.

Each year, hundreds of fatal crashes occur on Missouri’s rural highways. Many of these tragedies happen because of limited lighting, high speeds, and driver inattention. In multi-vehicle collisions, pedestrians standing outside their cars are at an even higher risk of serious or fatal injuries.

Common causes of fatal car accidents in Missouri include:

  • Distracted driving – Looking away from the road for even a moment can lead to catastrophic results.
  • Speeding or following too closely – Drivers traveling too fast have less time to stop when they see hazards ahead.
  • Low visibility at night – Stopped or disabled vehicles without lights are difficult to see until it’s too late.
  • Failure to move over – Drivers must move over or slow down when approaching roadside vehicles, especially during emergencies.

For families who lose loved ones in these heartbreaking crashes, the emotional and financial toll can be overwhelming. Seeking justice through a wrongful death lawyer through a wrongful death claim can help cover medical costs, funeral expenses, lost income, and pain and suffering. A skilled attorney can investigate the crash, work with accident reconstruction experts, and ensure that responsible parties are held accountable.
