Kansas City, MO – Injury Crash After Police Pursuit on I-70

Kansas City, MO (September 3, 2025) – A police pursuit ended in a head-on collision Tuesday evening, September 2nd, near downtown Kansas City.

The incident began around 7:30 p.m. near 39th Street and Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard when officers attempted to stop a Buick Encore linked to a reported carjacking.

Police said they ended the chase shortly after it began. However, the Buick entered Interstate 70 from Locust Street in the wrong direction and struck a BMW head-on. After the crash, the driver and a passenger ran from the scene.

According to authorities, the passenger attempted another carjacking before fleeing into the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70. The passenger was hit by a passing vehicle that left the scene, but was later taken into custody by police.

The Kansas City Fire Department reported that five people involved in this accident received medical attention at the scene. Two individuals were transported to a hospital, but no life-threatening injuries were reported.

Officials confirmed the investigation remains ongoing.

Our thoughts are with everyone injured, and we hope for their full and quick recovery.

Car Accidents in Kansas City

Car accidents in Kansas City can happen suddenly and leave lasting effects on everyone involved. Even when serious injuries are avoided, victims may still face hospital visits, follow-up care, and unexpected medical bills.

Situations like the recent pursuit-related collision highlight the dangers drivers face when reckless or criminal actions occur on the road.

In Missouri, traffic accidents remain a major cause of injury. According to state data, thousands of people suffer crash-related injuries every year. Many of these crashes involve wrong-way driving, distracted driving, or high-speed chases, all of which increase the risk of serious harm.

When someone is injured in a car accident, recovery often involves more than just healing physically.

Victims may lose time at work, struggle with transportation, and face emotional distress. In these cases, working with a Missouri personal injury lawyer can make a significant difference. An attorney can help accident victims understand their legal rights and pursue compensation for:

  • Medical costs, including emergency treatment and rehabilitation
  • Lost wages due to time away from work
  • Pain and suffering
  • Property damage and vehicle repairs

Having the right legal guidance helps victims navigate insurance claims and hold negligent parties accountable. Each case is unique, but the common goal is to ensure that those harmed receive the support and justice they deserve.
