Car Accidents in Missouri

Kansas City, MO - Driver Hurt After Rear-End Crash on I29 SBEvery year, thousands of car crashes occur on Missouri roads, with many resulting in injuries that require emergency medical attention. In 2023 alone, Missouri saw over 50,000 crashes involving some level of injury. High-traffic highways, driver inattention, and sudden stops all contribute to the number of incidents happening across the state.

It’s important to understand some of the most frequent causes of crashes to stay alert and safer behind the wheel. Here are a few common issues:

  • Rear-End Collisions: These are among the most common types of crashes on Missouri roads. They typically happen when a driver is following too closely or fails to notice slowing traffic ahead. Even at lower speeds, these crashes can cause neck, back, or soft tissue injuries.
  • Following Too Closely: Tailgating often leads to rear-end crashes. Drivers may not have enough time to react to sudden stops, especially in congested areas like highways during peak traffic hours.
  • Distracted Driving: Whether it’s using a phone, adjusting the radio, or eating behind the wheel, distractions can significantly delay a driver’s reaction time, contributing to preventable accidents.
  • Fatigue or Inattention: Long hours on the road or being mentally distracted can cause a driver to miss signs of slowing traffic or sudden stops ahead, resulting in collisions that could have been avoided with better focus.
