Kansas City, MO – Crash on I-470 Near MM 6.8 Causes Injuries

Kansas City, MO (June 6, 2025) – A multi-vehicle accident involving four cars led to injuries and significant road disruptions along Interstate 470 near mile marker 6.8 early Thursday afternoon. According to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 1:15 p.m. on June 5.

Initial details show the accident began when a 52-year-old Kansas City man driving an Audi AG collided with a Nissan Kick, driven by a 22-year-old man from Greenwood, Missouri. Following the impact, a Volkswagen Jetta operated by a 20-year-old Independence woman struck the Nissan. A Nissan Sentra, driven by a 27-year-old Independence woman, then crashed into the already impacted Nissan.

The Nissan Sentra suffered extensive damage and was towed from the scene by All City Tow. Both the Volkswagen Jetta and the Nissan Kick also incurred moderate damage. The Audi AG sustained minor damage and was later moved by Jackson County Tow.

Emergency crews, including Kansas City Fire and KC Fore, responded quickly. Three people were injured and transported for further medical care. A 2-year-old girl from Independence and a 16-year-old girl from Lee’s Summit, both occupants in the vehicles, were taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital with minor injuries. The 52-year-old male driver of the Audi was transported to Research Medical Center for additional evaluation.

All vehicles involved were traveling westbound at the time of the crash. The collision led to traffic delays in the area as crews worked to clear the scene and assist the victims.
