Kansas City, MO – 7 Injured in SUV and Pickup Crash at Ward Pkwy & Wornall Rd

Kansas City, MO (March 18, 2026) – Seven people suffered injuries Tuesday morning, March 17, after a crash involving an SUV and a pickup truck at a busy Kansas City intersection.

Emergency units responded around 10:15 a.m., after reports of a serious accident at Ward Parkway and Wornall Road. Investigators said a black Nissan Kicks carrying six occupants entered the intersection and ran a red light.

Kansas City Police reported that the SUV then slammed into a Ford pickup truck traveling east on Ward Parkway. The pickup truck driver was the only person inside that vehicle at the time of the collision.

Responders arrived and began assisting everyone involved in the crash. Paramedics evaluated the injured victims and arranged transportation to nearby hospitals for additional medical treatment.

Officials confirmed that all seven people involved in the crash went to two area hospitals. The passenger who rode inside the trunk of the Nissan suffered the most serious injuries and remains in critical but stable condition.

Authorities said the other six individuals involved in the accident sustained minor injuries. Medical teams evaluated them after the crash and provided treatment for their injuries.

Officers secured the intersection and began documenting the crash scene. Investigators gathered information about the vehicles and spoke with those involved as part of the ongoing review.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

Our thoughts remain with those injured as they work toward recovery.

What Should I Do if I Was Hurt in a Traffic Accident in Missouri?

If you were hurt in a traffic accident in Missouri, the first step is to seek medical attention and report the incident to law enforcement. Medical records and an official accident report help document the injuries and create a clear record of what happened.

Car crashes happen frequently across Missouri, especially at busy city intersections where vehicles approach from several directions. When drivers ignore traffic signals or fail to stop at a red light, the risk of serious impact increases. Collisions at intersections can involve several vehicles and multiple injured occupants, which often leads to emergency medical responses and detailed investigations.

People injured in traffic accidents may experience a wide range of health problems. Some victims suffer head injuries, neck strain, or back pain due to the sudden force of impact. Others may deal with broken bones, bruising, or internal injuries that require additional medical care. Even when injuries seem minor at first, symptoms can develop hours or days later.

Medical evaluation plays an important role after any crash. Doctors can identify injuries that are not immediately visible and recommend treatment or follow-up visits. Keeping records of hospital visits, medications, therapy appointments, and other medical care helps create a timeline of recovery.

People involved in a collision also benefit from gathering information related to the incident. Accident reports, photographs of vehicle damage, and witness statements can help explain how the crash occurred. Insurance companies often review these materials when determining how to handle a claim.

Understanding how insurance coverage works after a crash can also take time. Some people have questions about medical bills, repair costs, or missed work during recovery. Each accident presents different circumstances, and available options may depend on the details of the crash and the injuries involved.

A Missouri car accident attorney can review accident reports, medical documents, and insurance information to explain what options may be available. Legal guidance can help clarify how documentation and communication with insurance providers may affect a claim.
