Kansas City, KS – Woman Hurt After Rollover Crash on I-635 Near Speaker Rd

Kansas City, KS (July 8, 2025) – Emergency crews were called to a serious crash early Sunday morning that left one driver injured after her vehicle rolled multiple times along Interstate 635 near Speaker Road. According to reports from the Kansas Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 6:46 a.m. on July 6 in Wyandotte County.

Authorities say a 2017 Toyota Yaris, driven by 29-year-old Alexis Monae Spann of Kansas City, Kansas, and a 2005 Toyota Sienna were both traveling northbound on Interstate 635 near milepost 3.6, just south of Speaker Road. The preliminary investigation indicates that Spann’s Yaris struck the rear passenger side of the Sienna while both vehicles were in the right lane. The impact sent the Yaris into the barrier wall, where it rolled multiple times before coming to rest in the exit lane to Kansas Avenue.

Spann was transported by ambulance to the University of Kansas Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the Toyota Sienna was not reported as injured. The crash was not a hit-and-run and did not involve a police pursuit. Kansas Highway Patrol troopers continue to investigate the events that led to the collision and rollover.
