Kansas City, KS – Serious Truck Crash on I-70 EB Near S 110th St

Kansas City, KS (December 10, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 left a man seriously injured on Tuesday morning, December 9, in Wyandotte County. The Kansas Highway Patrol said the collision happened at about 10:13 a.m. on Interstate 70 eastbound near South 110th Street in Kansas City, Kansas.

Troopers reported that a 2022 Kenworth semi-trailer struck a 2023 Hyundai Tucson. The Hyundai was sideswiped by the truck. The impact damaged the sport utility vehicle and caused serious injuries to its driver.

Paramedics treated the Hyundai driver at the scene, then rushed him to the University of Kansas Hospital. Police identified him as Keaton Landry II, age fifty-two, from Junction City. Troopers described his injuries as serious. The semi driver, Johnnie McDuffie, age fifty-three, from Pace, Florida, did not suffer injuries.

Investigators said both drivers rode alone in their vehicles. They also confirmed that each wore a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The Kansas Highway Patrol continues to investigate this crash.

We hope Mr. Landry receives steady care and makes a strong recovery.

Semi-Truck Crashes in KansasSerious Truck Crash on I-70 EB Near S 110th St

Crashes involving semi trucks often lead to serious injuries because of the size and weight difference between vehicles. When a tractor-trailer hits a smaller car, the force can crush doors, twist frames, and throw the occupants hard inside the cabin. Victims may face long recovery periods, time away from work, and stress about how to pay for care. That is why understanding possible compensation matters after a truck collision.

In a case like this, an injured person may seek compensation for several types of losses. The exact amount depends on the injuries, medical needs, and the impact on daily life.

Possible compensation can include:

  • Medical expenses, including ambulance transport, emergency treatment, hospital stays, surgery, medication, and follow-up care.
  • Future medical costs, such as physical therapy, rehabilitation, specialist visits, and any long-term treatment plans.
  • Lost income, covering missed paychecks while the victim cannot work during recovery.
  • Loss of future earning ability, if injuries reduce the person’s capacity to do the same job or work full-time.
  • Pain and suffering, which account for ongoing physical pain and the limits it places on normal life.
  • Emotional distress, including anxiety, sleep problems, or trauma that can follow a violent crash.
  • Property damage, paying for repair or replacement of the vehicle and personal items harmed in the collision.
  • Out-of-pocket expenses, like travel for medical visits, home assistance, or medical equipment needed after discharge.

Truck cases can involve more than just the drivers. A semi-trailer owner, trucking company, or maintenance provider may share responsibility if poor training, unsafe scheduling, or equipment problems played a role.

Investigations often look at driver logs, truck inspection records, dash camera video, and witness reports. A Kansas truck accident lawyer can help gather that evidence and protect a victim from insurance tactics that try to downplay injuries or shift blame.

Insurance companies may offer quick settlements before the full injury picture is clear. Victims should not feel rushed. Serious injuries can change over time, and some costs only appear weeks later. A careful claim helps ensure the compensation matches the real needs of recovery.
