Cathryn Cheyenne Claycomb Hurt in Auto Wreck on I-635 in Kansas City

Kansas City, KS (March 19, 2026) — A four-vehicle pileup on northbound I-635 sent at least one person to the hospital. The Kansas City car accident took place near milepost 4.1 north of K-32 on Wednesday, March 18.

According to reports from the Kansas Highway Patrol, at around 6:25 a.m., a 2018 Ram 3500 was partially blocking lane one of northbound I-635 when a 2009 Ford Fusion driven by Jose Perdomo, 18, made an avoidance maneuver and struck a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Hope Elizabeth Hunt, 49, of Shawnee, Kansas. The Santa Fe was then pushed into a 2014 Dodge Journey driven by Cathryn Cheyenne Claycomb, 24, of Lansing, Kansas.

Claycomb was injured and transported to KU Medical Center for further care. She had four young passengers in the vehicle, all of whom reported no apparent injuries. Perdomo and his four passengers reported no apparent injuries. Hunt also reported no apparent injuries.

All three disabled vehicles were removed from the scene by Sunflower Tow Service and taken to a tow lot. The Ram 3500 did not require towing. The crash was investigated by unit K375 and was not a hit-and-run or police pursuit incident. Vehicle 1 was listed as uninsured at the time of the crash.

Our thoughts are with Cathryn Cheyenne Claycomb and her family, and we wish her a full and speedy recovery.

Car Accidents in Kansas

Cathryn Cheyenne Claycomb Hurt in Kansas City Car AccidentAfter a Kansas City car accident, what you do next can make a big difference in your case. Many people do not realize that small mistakes can reduce the amount of money they receive. If you were hurt in a crash in Kansas City, our team is here to guide you and protect your rights.

Not Getting Medical Help Right Away

One of the biggest mistakes after a Kansas City car accident is waiting to see a doctor. Even if you feel okay, injuries like a traumatic brain injury may not show symptoms right away. When you delay care, insurance companies may argue that your injuries are not serious or were caused by something else. We always encourage clients to get checked out as soon as possible.

Talking Too Much to Insurance Companies

Insurance adjusters may seem friendly, but they are looking for ways to pay less. After a Kansas City car accident, giving recorded statements or guessing about your injuries can hurt your claim. Our team knows how to handle these conversations and protect your side of the story.

Admitting Fault Too Early

Another common mistake is saying “I’m sorry” or taking blame at the scene of a Kansas City car accident. The state of Kansas follows rules like comparative negligence, which means your compensation can be reduced if you are partly at fault. Even a simple comment can be used against you later. Let our team review the facts before any decisions are made.

Not Hiring a Car Accident Attorney

Trying to handle a Kansas City car accident claim alone can lead to missed opportunities. Insurance companies know when someone does not have legal support. Working with a trusted car accident attorney helps ensure your case is taken seriously and valued properly.

Waiting Too Long to Take Action

Time matters after a Kansas City car accident. Evidence can disappear, and deadlines can pass quickly. The sooner you reach out to our team, the sooner we can begin building your case and protecting your future.
