Kansas City, KS (March 1, 2026) – One person was transported to an area hospital with injuries following a Kansas City car accident on Saturday afternoon, February 28.
According to reports provided by the Kansas Highway Patrol, at around 3:45 p.m., a 2008 Cadillac SRX and a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse were both traveling on the northbound side of Interstate 435. As the vehicles began to transition onto the exit ramp near State Avenue, forward traffic began to slow.
For unknown reasons, the Cadillac, operated by Charles W. Valenta, and the Chevrolet, driven by William B. Simpson, were involved in a rear-end impact during the slowdown. While the drivers did not report immediate injuries, a passenger in the Cadillac, Lila M. Valenta, was hurt in the crash. Emergency medical teams transported her to KU Medical Center for treatment. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
