Jackson County, MO – Four Vehicles Involved in Injury Crash on I-470 SB

Jackson County, MO (February 16, 2026) – A four-vehicle crash on Interstate 470 southbound left one person injured on Friday, February 13, in Jackson County. The collision occurred at 12:44 p.m., along I-470 south of Woods Chapel Road.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, traffic had slowed in the southbound lanes when a 2026 GMC Sierra struck the rear of a 2008 Ford F-150.

The first impact pushed the Ford F-150 into a 2023 Volkswagen Jetta. That force sent the Jetta off the left side of the roadway. The Ford F-150 then overcorrected, crossed back across the lanes, and struck a 2016 Ford Explorer. The second impact caused both the F-150 and the Explorer to leave the right side of the highway.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and assisted those involved. Authorities reported that a 48-year-old man from Harrisonville, Missouri, suffered minor injuries. Paramedics transported him to Centerpoint Medical Center for treatment.

Crews later towed two of the vehicles from the scene due to moderate damage. Investigators continue to review the circumstances that led to the accident.

Our thoughts are with the injured driver, and we wish him a smooth recovery.

How Do Injury Claims Work in Missouri When Multiple Vehicles Are Involved?Four Vehicles Involved in Injury Crash on I-470 SB

In Missouri, injury claims involving multiple vehicles work by determining fault for each driver and assigning financial responsibility based on comparative fault rules. Missouri follows a pure comparative fault system, which means an injured person can seek compensation even if they share some responsibility for the crash. The final recovery may decrease by the percentage of fault assigned to that person.

Multi-vehicle collisions often create complex insurance questions. Insurance companies review police reports, driver statements, vehicle damage, and medical records to determine how the chain reaction occurred.

In a rear-end sequence crash, insurers examine which driver started the initial impact and whether any driver followed too closely or failed to maintain control. Each policy may come into play depending on how fault is divided.

Medical documentation plays a key role in these claims. Hospital records, imaging results, and follow-up treatment notes help connect injuries directly to the accident.

Lost wage records and repair estimates also support the overall claim. When several vehicles are involved, adjusters may negotiate across multiple insurance carriers at the same time.

A car accident attorney can review crash reports, insurance policies, and medical bills to explain what compensation may be available under Missouri law. Legal guidance can help clarify liability percentages, policy limits, and how settlements may work when more than one driver shares responsibility.
