The crash occurred on June 12, 2026, at approximately 12:50 p.m. on I-35 southbound about 0.1 miles north of I-635 near the Metcalf exit area in Mission.

Authorities reported that the Chrysler came up behind another vehicle and then made an unsafe lane change into traffic. During the maneuver, the Chrysler struck the driver’s side of a 2017 Subaru Outback operated by 35-year-old Jacquelyn Grace Haines of Lawrence, Kansas.
The impact caused the Subaru to swerve into a 2024 Ford F-350 driven by 54-year-old Sean A. Kelley of Paola, Kansas. Investigators stated that the Subaru spun out of control, struck a sign pole, and came to rest near nearby railroad tracks. Following the collision, the Chrysler reportedly fled the scene.
