Independence, MO – Two-Vehicle Crash on I-70 Leaves One Injured

Independence, MO (February 16, 2025) – A collision involving two vehicles occurred early Saturday morning on Interstate 70, leaving one driver injured.

The crash happened at approximately 5:35 a.m. on February 15 along the eastbound lanes of I-70 near the 18-mile marker in Jackson County. Reports indicate that a 2014 Ford Edge, driven by a 28-year-old man from Blue Springs, was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crashed into the rear of a 2001 Buick. The Buick was driven by a 69-year-old Kansas City man.

The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles, rendering them inoperable. Emergency crews arrived on the scene and had both vehicles towed by Elite Tow. Authorities confirmed that the driver of the Buick sustained minor injuries in the crash. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and was transported by ambulance to Centerpoint Hospital for treatment.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Independence Police Department responded to the scene. Troopers, including CPL A.D. Lindgren and TPR M. Lang, conducted an investigation into the crash. Officials have not stated whether impairment or other factors contributed to the collision. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash.
