Independence, MO – Two Injured After Crash on I-470

Independence, MO (March 28, 2025) – A multi-vehicle accident took place along Interstate 470 Northbound just before 5:15 p.m. on March 26, leaving at least two people injured and requiring EMS response.

Three vehicles were involved in the wreck, which occurred at the 15-mile marker. Investigators say the crash unfolded when a Chevrolet Impala slowed for traffic, and the Honda Civic in front of it came to a stop. A 2013 Fiat 500, driven by a 19-year-old woman from Buckner, crashed into the Civic for reasons still being looked into, pushing it forward into the Impala.

The impact left the Fiat and Civic heavily damaged, with both vehicles requiring towing services. The young driver of the Fiat and a 36-year-old woman operating the Civic were both transported by Lee’s Summit EMS to Centerpoint Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet, a 20-year-old man from Independence, was able to drive away from the scene with moderate damage to his vehicle.
