Man Hurt in Cherokee County Motorcycle Crash on SE 70th St

Cherokee Co., KS (April 1, 2026) – A Joplin man was seriously injured Sunday night, March 29, following a Cherokee County motorcycle accident between his motorcycle and a Tesla.

The accident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Southeast 70th Street and Southeast Lynx Drive. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2006 Harley Davidson was traveling behind a 2022 Tesla when the Tesla slowed down to make a left-hand turn onto Lynx Drive. The motorcycle was unable to stop in time and collided with the rear of the vehicle.

The operator of the Harley Davidson, a 31-year-old man from Joplin, was transported to Mercy Hospital Joplin with suspected serious injuries. The driver and passengers in the Tesla were reported uninjured.
