Cassville, MO – Rear-End Crash on MO 248 Injures One

Cassville, MO (April 11, 2025) – A woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash that took place Wednesday afternoon in Barry County. The incident occurred at approximately 4:00 p.m. on April 9, just west of Farm Road 1200 along MO 248.

Authorities reported that a 2019 RAM ProMaster, driven by a 26-year-old man from Ash Grove, MO, collided with the back of a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado traveling east. The impact caused the Silverado to veer off the roadway, where it collided with an embankment and then a tree. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were removed by Wilson’s Towing.

The driver of the Silverado, a 51-year-old woman from Aurora, MO, was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. She sustained minor injuries and was transported by Barry County Ambulance to Cox Monett Hospital for treatment. The driver of the RAM was not reported as injured. The crash was investigated by Sergeant J.E. Givens of Troop D.

We hope the injured driver heals quickly and fully.

Car Accidents in Missouri

Cassville, MO - Rear-End Crash on MO 248 Injures OneIn Missouri, thousands of traffic crashes occur each year across both urban and rural roadways. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the state saw over 150,000 traffic accidents in 2023. Of these, more than 40,000 resulted in injuries. Rural stretches of highway, like the one near Cassville, often see severe crashes due to speed, limited visibility, and less access to emergency services.

Let’s look at some of the common causes of rear-end accidents and why they happen so frequently:

  • Following Too Closely: Drivers who don’t maintain a safe following distance can’t react in time if the car ahead slows or stops suddenly. This is one of the leading causes of rear-end collisions. Proper spacing is essential to give yourself enough time to brake safely.
  • Distracted Driving: Texting, using GPS, adjusting the radio, or even eating can pull a driver’s attention away from the road. Just a few seconds of distraction is enough to miss the brake lights ahead and cause a crash.
  • Speeding: Traveling at high speeds reduces a driver’s reaction time and increases stopping distance. When traffic suddenly slows, a speeding vehicle is far more likely to cause a rear-end impact.
  • Weather and Road Conditions: Wet roads, fog, or ice can make it harder to stop quickly. Drivers who fail to adjust their speed and distance in poor conditions are more prone to striking the vehicle in front.
  • Mechanical Failures: Brake failure or worn-out tires can prevent a driver from stopping in time. Routine maintenance is key to preventing these types of accidents.
