Marion Township, KS (March 4, 2026) – A two-vehicle car accident in Marion Township on US Highway 54 resulted in the hospitalization of a teenager on Monday morning, March 2.
The accident occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. near milepost 353.5, at the intersection of US-54 and 25th Street. According to the crash narrative, Dustin Eugene Speer was traveling eastbound in a 2008 Chevrolet G2500 van when a 1991 Dodge D150 pickup, driven by Ryeker Lane Stewart, failed to yield. The two vehicles collided in the middle of the eastbound lane, sending the Dodge into the southeast ditch while the Chevrolet van came to a rest on the shoulder.
Ryeker Lane Stewart sustained injuries in the crash and was transported to Fort Scott Hospital. Investigators noted that Stewart was not wearing a safety restraint at the time of the collision.
Dustin Eugene Speer was reportedly wearing a seatbelt and escaped the incident with no apparent injuries. Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were removed by Pearson’s Towing and Brumback Towing, respectively. The Kansas Highway Patrol is currently investigating the crash.
