Holden, MO (July 4, 2026) – A car accident in Holden left one woman injured Friday morning after a detached wheel from a towed unit struck an oncoming vehicle along Missouri 58 Highway in Johnson County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 11:20 a.m. on July 3 near 1504 SW Missouri 58. Trooper S. L. Edwards investigated the incident.
Authorities reported that a northbound 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by a 43-year-old man from Holden, was towing a unit when one of the wheels detached. The wheel crossed into the southbound lane and struck the front of a southbound 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by a 46-year-old man from Kingsville.
A 75-year-old female passenger in the Chevrolet Cavalier sustained injuries in the collision. She was transported by personal conveyance to St. Luke’s Hospital for additional medical treatment. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. The Chevrolet Tahoe was towed by Miller Towing, while the Chevrolet Cavalier was removed from the scene by Clinton Wrecker.
Investigators continue working to determine what caused the wheel to separate from the towed unit. The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s investigation remains ongoing.
